Rural Manpower Service
The Rural Manpower Service, an integral part of
Employment Service, is charged
with the responsibility for providing technical advice and assistance in developing a
program which will render equity of access to manpower and related services to rural
workers and employers, both agricultural and nonagricultural. The primary thrust is in
geographic areas not usually considered within the initial service area. The broad
spectrum of services offered to rural residents and migrant and seasonal farm workers
includes all those offered by the local office plus inspection of migrant labor camps,
investigating and reporting of farm labor contractors under the Federal Contractors
Registration Act. The Service endeavors to shift the seasonal work force from areas of
supply to areas of demand. This accomplishment should be realized through efficient
utilization of all available local workers. Full cooperation is offered other states to
ensure that migrant workers secure full employment by arranging work schedules through the
Rural Manpower Mobility Plans.
