Trade
Act Programs
Trade Act
programs are available to assist individuals who have become unemployed as a
result of increased imports (Trade Adjustment Assistance), imports
specifically from Canada and/or Mexico, or a shift in production to Canada
and/or Mexico (North American Free Trade Agreement-Transitional Adjustment
Assistance). The goal is to help such laid-off workers return to work as
quickly as possible. Several forms of re-employment assistance are available to aid those who
may have lost a job due to an increase in imports. Following is vital
information for Workers,
Employers
and Workforce
Development Professionals regarding the re-employment services
available to anyone involved in a layoff.
