SCWages Program

Our Agency also utilizes a Diskette/CD Wage Reporting System that calculates excess and taxable wages each quarter by keeping track of the year-to-date wages. The amount of contributions and contingency assessment due are automatically calculated based upon the tax rate assigned to the account. The system will also generate a summary page for use in completing the UCE-101, Employer Contribution Report.

The Diskette/CD Wage Reporting System, SCWages, was developed to provide employers with the capability of reporting employee wages each quarter by using a PC diskette or CD instead of listing them on paper. While the system offers various functions, it is not required that our program be used. The following information will provide you with information regarding system requirements as well as an overview of the program's features. To receive a copy of the program, contact Wendy Manos at (803) 737-2310 or wmanos@sces.org. Should you need any additional information, please contact either of the above, or Joe Ervin at 803-737-2451 (jervin@sces.org).

System Requirements

The SCWages Program requires a PC with one of the following operating systems: Windows 95â, Windows 98â, Windows 2000â, Windows NTâ or Windows XPâ. 20 Mb of free disk space is needed on the PC for installation. You will also need a 3.5” floppy disk drive capable of writing to a high density (1.44/1.2 Mb) diskette or CD burning capabilities. In addition, forms must be printed using a laser jet printer.

Overview of the System

The SCWages program has the following features:

Update Employee Wages - The system allows the user to update wages on a quarterly basis after the employees have been initially entered.

Import Wage Data - The system can import the wage data from previous versions of the wage diskette reporting system.

Additionally, the system can import wage data from a text file.

Add or Delete Employees - The system provides a simple method by which to enter new employees into the system or delete employees that you no longer employ.

Delete Multiple Employees - The system provides the capability to delete multiple employees at once.

Compute Quarterly Contributions - The system can compute the quarterly contributions and contingency due and wage totals for any quarter selected.

Prepare Filing Diskette/CD(s) - The system can prepare a filing diskette for a single employer or for multiple employers for any quarter selected.

Printing capabilities - The system has a myriad of printing options available.

Employee List - This option allows the user to print an employee list, including quarterly and year to date total wages.

Contribution and Wage Report - This option allows the user to print a contribution and wage report using blank forms which are provided by the Commission.

Computed Quarterly Contributions Report - For users with bubble jet, ink jet, impact or dot matrix printers; this option allows the user to print a report of the total, excess and taxable wages as well as the contributions and contingency due to be transferred to the Commission’s form that is mailed to the employer each quarter.

Add, Update, Delete Employer Data - The system provides a simple method by which the user can enter additional employer records.

Other Options/Features:

Find - From the Employer Data Entry and Employee Data Entry screens, the user can find employers by account number or employer name and employees by social security number, last name or first name

Print Options (Prepare Filing Diskette/CD(s)) - The user has the option of printing a hard copy of the employees reported for each employer, the employers reported on the diskette and/or the contribution report. Additionally, multiple copies of these “reports” can be printed.

Sorting (ascending/descending) - From the Update Wages screen, the user can sort employees by social security number, last name, first name and by quarterly wages. In the Prepare Filing Diskette/CD process, the user can prepare a hard copy of the employees reported via diskette/CD sorted by social security number, last name or the order in which the data was entered.

Set Taxable Wage Base - In the event the taxable wage base increases or decreases, this option allows the user the ability to set the new wage base for all employers in the database. Currently, the taxable wage base is $7,000 for each employee; no initial setting of this option is required.
