The Workforce Development Symposium

This annual partnership event joins the S.C. Chamber, S.C. Department of Workforce, and the State Workforce Development Board for workshops and seminars on the current and key issues or subjects pertaining to the workforce in South Carolina aimed to educate businesses and professionals in the workforce industry.

The 2017 Workforce Development Symposium focused on the workforce pipeline in South Carolina.

During both days, participants explored systemic workforce problems in our state and learned more about the actions currently underway to address those issues. Businesses had the opportunity to connect with agencies that might offer solutions for their business.

The day one panel, titled Rethinking Recruitment, business leaders discussed their out-of-the-box efforts to hire, train and retain workers in today's fast paced, high demand work environment. The focus was on the demand side of workforce development – strategies and information for businesses hoping to fill their talent gaps.

Day two was geared more toward training for workforce and economic development professionals.
